アーティストステートメント

楊 夢夢（よう むむ）
中国・上海市出身。上海師範大学美術学部卒業、女子美術大学大学院博士前期課程修了。
女子美術大学在学中に赤木範陸に師事し、黄金背景卵黄テンペラ技法を学ぶ。クトゥルフ神話を題材にした金地テンペラ画作品を中心に制作・発表している。

展覧会概要

中世宗教画に見られる黄金背景卵黄テンペラ技法を用い、人魚、タコ、海妖などの神話的な存在を描いています。作品では、神性と愛欲、柔らかさと力強さといった相反する要素の共存をテーマとし、美人画の形式を通して表現を試みています。
海妖は古くから人の心を惑わし、欲望を掻き立てる存在として語られてきました。私はその姿を借りることで、人間の内に潜む欲望、とりわけ社会の規範や価値観によって抑圧されてきた性愛や衝動を可視化したいと考えています。人魚や海妖たちは、恐れられながらも人を惹きつける存在です。その両義性の中に、人間が抱える欲望の美しさと危うさを見出しています。

2021年7月〜現在　ヨーロッパ古典技法の知見を得るため赤木研究室に通う

ARTIST STATEMENT

Mengmeng Yang was born in Shanghai, China.
She graduated from Shanghai Normal University and received her M.F.A. from Joshibi University of Art and Design in Japan.
While studying at Joshibi, she apprenticed under Norimichi Akagi and learned the traditional gilded egg tempera technique.
Her work is primarily inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos and medieval panel painting traditions.
For this exhibition, Yang employs the gilded egg tempera technique found in medieval religious paintings to depict mythological
beings such as mermaids, octopuses, and Sirens.
Her work explores the coexistence of divinity and desire, tenderness and strength. Yang reinterprets the Siren as a symbolic figure through which she explores human desire, particularly erotic impulses restrained by social norms and moral expectations. Both feared and desired, her Sirens embody the beauty and peril of longing.
